Solution
Together with ALTYCA, AIB analyzed the current state, developed a data strategy, and identified use cases in a workshop. One of them – AI-powered anomaly detection – was implemented as a pilot.

The Amt für Industrielle Betriebe (AIB) faced the challenge of modernizing a historically grown data landscape.
In this process, AIB pursued two goals: to develop a robust data strategy and to replace its outdated data platform by a modern, future-ready solution that also enables the integration of artificial intelligence.
Together with ALTYCA, a current state analysis was conducted through internal interviews, leading to the development of a data strategy that was aligned with the canton’s overall strategy.

This was followed by a design sprint workshop split into two half-day sessions, in which relevant data analytics and AI use cases were identified, prioritized, and refined – ranging from chatbots for project documentation, automated microscopy in the lab, to predictive control of combined water basins for environmental protection during heavy rainfall.
On this basis, a pilot project for anomaly detection was implemented. The goal is to determine the optimal cleaning time of the inflow pipe to the digester, ensuring the required sludge retention time for maximum gas production.
